‘PLO 6-Max is my jam’ read the tweet from Daniel Negreanu, sitting on the chip lead with 90 players left.
Chasing victory in event 9 of the WSOP Online’s US series - $500 PLO 6-Max - Negreanu opted not to stream his action on video but rather shared his progress via X. And for the longest time it looked like his 8th WSOP bracelet - and his second of the year after his headline-grabbing performance in the PPC - was on the way.
When you’re the chip leader with 100 remaining, 50 remaining, and then the final table, it’s oh-so-tempting to start imagining crossing that finish line still in first place. And for Negreanu, who has never been shy about his passion for chasing titles and cementing his legacy as one of the best ever, it must have been hard not to imagine the feeling of a brand new gold bracelet on his wrist.
As the headline above suggests, however, on this occasion it was not to be. After letting the chip lead slip, Negreanu eventually found himself short-stacked and ran into aces, was unable to improve and bounced out in 6th place for $6,125. The tournament drew 363 entries, with a total prize pool of $163,350, and after almost 10 hours of play the title, the gold bracelet and the $31,445 first-place prize money was won by 'The_founder'.
Shortly before busting the event, Negreanu posted this (below). Could his focus have been thrown off by the Emmy Award-winning acting of Edie Falco? We’ll never know what might have been…
Got Sopranos on in the background while I grind and a random thought:

Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano is one of the greatest acting achievements of all time
